2019

This work seeks to explore the complexity of art history through a textual representation that arranges the names of influential figures within the arts along two intersecting lines: horizontal and vertical. The horizontal line traces the development of art and thought, listing key scholars, while the vertical line intersects with this trajectory, highlighting interdisciplinary research in contemporary art, which includes fields such as sociology, psychology, and philosophy. This configuration illustrates the multifaceted nature of art history.

The interpretation of the work progresses from complexity to digestion and then extension. The complexity of art history is depicted on the right side of the work, while the left side represents the decomposition of this complexity. In critiquing Heidegger's image hermeneutics, the alphabetical order is disrupted to reflect perceived biases. Shapiro's positivism is contrasted with a strict reverse order, to question the assumption that evidence equates to truth. For Derrida, the reversal of letters and their placement on the ground symbolizes a departure from and subversion of traditional boundaries. This approach aims to critique the notions of fixed imagination and static evidence, suggesting that truth is not absolute but varies with context.
